7 million children are burned every year in the Americas.
500 thousand of them will need integral rehabilitation due to their serious wounds. Most of these children come from underprivileged areas and families, with no possibilities of affording the long and costly specialized treatments they require.

COANIQUEM BURN CENTER AID FOR CHILDREN FOUNDATION, COANIQUEM BCF, was born on May 14th of 1998 to offer financial aid to these burned children and families, as a legally recognized (501) (c) (3) Corporation by the IRS Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

COANIQUEM BCF, works with the Chilean Corporation of Aid to Burned Children, COANIQUEM. Founded in 1979, COANIQUEM to this date has cared for & rehabilitated free of charge, more than 80 thousand burned children, provided pre and post graduate training to more than 600 Health Care professionals in Latin America & the Caribbean and over 12 thousand Monitors in Child Burn Prevention.

COANIQUEM has been recognized as one of the World´s foremost expert Medical Centers in Burned Children Rehabilitation by the XIII International Burn Congress, celebrated in Fortaleza, Brasil in December 2006 (XIII Congresso Internacional de Queimaduras).

COANIQUEM today has three Rehabilitation Centres in the cities of Santiago, Antofagasta and Puerto Montt in Chile . These centers together with their residential & educational area - Casabierta - welcome the children and parents coming from other Chilean regions or other Latin American Countries to receive their treatment. Here they are given - free of any charge - room and board together with appropriate educational training to allow continuity in the children´s learning levels and training workshops for their parents.
